Weekend in Milwaukee

We’ve been talking about a trip to Milwaukee for a while now…well I guess almost since we moved here. What’s in Milwaukee you might ask? Well not a heck of a lot. In fact, the place was a ghost town; Pete & I were both surprised at how quiet it was. Why’d we go? It was a nice little Saturday night getaway but really Pete was itching to on a couple brewery tours. So that is what we did.

The Lakefront Brewery was our first stop. It was a craft brew brewery & much more interesting to me than Miller/Coors tours, mostly because we were touring a living brewery/a small business. Fun fact: the owners bought the brewery building for a $1 in an auction being run by the city of Milwaukee, not a bad investment. Our tour guide was excited to be there & clearly loved his job. The beer was good & we got souvenir glasses.Next up was the Miller/Coors tour. We missed the last tour full tour of the day & had to settle for the “Lite” tour which amounted to watching a brief video of the history of Miller/Coors. Betcha would be surprised at all the brands Miller/Coors distributes. After the video we walked through “Miller Valley” to the Miller Inn where we were served a couple of samples – Miller Lite & Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat. Oh ya, they also gave us a mini pack of pretzels, I guess they were feeling generous. From Miller Valley we made our way to downtown Milwaukee. I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting from Milwaukee but I know I wasn’t expecting it to be so quiet. The city has definitely been hit hard. We had dinner downtown at the Mason Street Grill. The food was amazing, especially the Pina Colada sorbet – so good.

Sunday morning we headed home, hitting up the outlets on our way & picking up the last few things we need for our trip (leaving in 2 weeks from Wednesday!!). The Pats game was at noon, so we were in a bit of a time crunch & believe it or not, Pete isn’t the fastest shopper. And we made or made not have got matching safari hats…come back in a few weeks for pictures of that.

Lastly, here we are three years ago when the Pats played in the London the first time.
